 | | mint inc is a design collective founded by alberto mantilla, anthony baxter and scott henderson - was formed simply to create an
outlet for creative ideas generated by the three founding
designers. the name was chosen because "mint"
connotes freshness, but
also because it has industrial meanings, as in the place or source of
manufacture and invention. mint is "refreshing" - tka e hug, the salt and pepper set, salad song, a duet of oil and vinegar, wine knot rolled together storage system for your wine and vin-eau, a tantalising water carafe or wine jug - you choose. Full biographymint is;- alberto mantilla born in bogotá, colombia and graduated with a ba in industrial design in 1983. alberto's work has been the subject of numerous design articles including time magazine's "best designs of the year" in 1998 and won many design awards including two prestigious idea awards, id magazine's "design distinction" award. tony baxter born in bradford, england and graduated with a ba (hons) in industrial design from ravensbourne college london in 1990. tony moved to new york in 1991 where he worked for henry dreyfuss associates, before co-founding curve id with alberto mantilla in 1994.
scott henderson also an american designer who heads the new york based
design studio and also principal and co-founder
of mint where he designs, manufacturers and distributes home accessory
objects to over 250 retailers and museums throughout the world
including the museum of modern art and design. scott
is known for his ability to transform the mundane. he believes that if
something makes you smile it becomes easier to use. for scott, design is not a discussion of
form versus function; it’s about thinking and the quality of the big
idea. his work is included in the permanent collections of the brooklyn museum, the chicago athenaeum and smithsonian institution.
